49ers Auctioning Jerseys For Fire Aid, Welcomed Paradise students

SF 49ers are auctioning off six jerseys worn by the pros from Monday night's game, when Paradise High School students joined the team.

SANTA CLARA, CA -- The San Francisco 49ers lived up to ESPN's 2017 Humanitarian Team of the Year award, with its Butte County wildfire relief pledges from Monday Night's football game against the New York Giants at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.

The team has raised from that night at least $100,000 with a dollar-for-dollar match from its 50/50 raffle to the North Valley Community Foundation, a philanthropic organization it used to deliver assistance to the victims of the Wine County wildfires that raged through Sonoma and Napa valleys the year before.

The 49ers are also staging an auction that ends Wednesday featuring four jerseys worn by quarterback Nick Mullens, running back Matt Breida, fullback Kyle Juszczyk, defensive lineman DeForest Buckner, tackle Joe Staley and tight end George Kittle.

During an emotionally stirring national anthem, Kittle stood next to students from Paradise High School, who made the 200-mile trip down to be on the field with the team. The Butte County classmates have witnessed their town become obliterated from the ravaging Camp Fire that broke out early Thursday. The deadliest and most destructive in California history claimed 42 lives and destroyed 6,782 structures of which mostly are homes. The school's Maxwell address is littered with demolished buildings shown on Cal Fire's ominous structure status list posted on the city's website.

The Bay Area football team is also conducting an internal employee collection drive for essential items to support residents of the area as it did last year for the fires in the North Bay.
