Eastridge Hosts Culinary Competition 'Taste For The Space'
The first culinary competition hosted by Eastridge will favor next generation cooking ideas amongst at least ten competitors on May. 13.

From Eastridge: Silicon Valley’s second largest retail destination, Eastridge, will host its first ever culinary competition called Taste for the Space. Competitors will have the chance to win a fully equipped eatery space at Eastridge Center with six months free rent and a $50,000 investment – a total prize package worth $140,000. Event partners include the silicon valley organization and Content Magazine.
Taste for the Space will be held on May 13 and is a San Jose culinary competition and community experience. This interactive event will introduce competitors to one thousand plus attendees and thousands of dollars in media exposure. A minimum of ten competitors will be selected to show the crowd why their taste should win the space. Competitors will participate in the event with a station and tasting dish. Set-up much like a food festival, the crowd will taste the contestants’ signature dishes then use text messaging to vote for their favorite. A panel of judges, along with the community voice, will select a winner for the chance of a lifetime.
“Our redevelopment of the center this year focuses on local San Jose stories and experiences,” says Najla Kayyem, vice president of marketing for ownership Pacific Retail. “Taste for the Space allows us to support local businesses and next gen ideas.” The lucky winner will have the opportunity to open their new eatery space with a fully equipped kitchen, no rent for six months and a $50,000 investment prize to get started. Current applicants include Rita’s of San Jose, Shi’s Catering, Sazon Peruana, Michi Restaurants & Catering, and Sushi Confidential. Applications are now open at http://eastridgecenter.com/tasteforthespace/.
