Esteves, Giordano and Montano Win Milpitas Races
Joses Esteves was re-elected as Mayor, while Debbie Giordano and Carmen Montano were elected as City Council members.
Incumbent Jose Esteves won the mayoral race in Milpitas, receiving 72.03 percent of the vote (8.952 votes), with 29 out of 29 precincts reporting at 4 a.m. Wednesday. His challenger, Rob Means, received 27.97 percent of the vote (3,477 votes).
The two City Council positions went to incumbent Milpitas City Council woman Debbie Giordano, with 19.81 percent of the vote (4,207 votes) and teacher Carmen Montano with 19.20 percent of the vote (4,079 votes).
There were seven candidates in total for a tight race. Trailing slightly behind was Esteves-endorsed candidate Garry Barbadillo with 16.69 percent of the vote (or 3,454 votes) and Deepka Lalwani, with 15.95 percent (3,389 votes).
