First Grade Students Leads Toy Drive
Milpitas Firefighters Toy Program, St. John the Baptist School
In this season of giving, the first grade class of St. John the Baptist School has partnered with the Milpitas Firefighters Toy Program for the second year. Mrs. Amer (1st grade teacher), Mrs. Lisa Tuason (room parent), and the first grade class were enthusiastically involved in this project. The reason for choosing this project is because the first graders decided to “bring a smile” on other children’s faces and share the joy of Christmas with the less fortunate in our community. The students came up with the plan, “let’s be a Santa for other children”. To achieve this goal and order to promote this worthy cause, the 1st grade made flyers, posters, and announcements to share with the school community. Everyone at St. John’s warmly participated in this project. The class collected 128 toys for underprivileged children in the community.
St. John the Baptist Catholic School is located at 360 South Abel Street in Milpitas.
