James Strong, 62, Santa Clara Resident Killed In Fire

His body was found inside a two story condo that was destroyed by flames early Sunday.

SANTA CLARA, CA —A man who died in a three-alarm fire at a condominium complex in Santa Clara early Sunday morning has been identified as 62-year-old James Strong, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.

Strong, a Santa Clara resident, was found in a state of cardiac arrest inside a two-story condo that had gone up in flames at the Lafayette Americana complex at 1031 Clyde Ave., Santa Clara fire officials said.

Firefighters administered CPR and advanced life support, but Strong died at a hospital, Battalion Chief Jeremy Ray said.

Fire crews were dispatched just before 2 a.m. Sunday to the blaze and had the fire under control in about 30 minutes, Ray said.

The fire official said that two units were damaged and residents of four units were displaced.

There were no other injuries in the fire, according to Ray.

There is an investigation underway into the cause of the fire. At this time, no damage estimate is available.
