Fremont police said they found a lost California sea lion Thursday morning several miles from the Bay.
FREMONT - Fremont police said they found a lost California sea lion Thursday morning several miles from the Bay.
The discovery was reported to police at 8:06 a.m. in the front yard of a home in the 42300 block of Osgood Road, adjacent to Interstate Highway 680.
The caller said the sea lion, nicknamed Ozzie by police because it was found on Osgood Road, was trying to cross the road, Fremont police spokeswoman Officer Geneva Bosques said.

Ozzie was under a tree when police got there and did not have any visible injuries.

Officials with the Marine Mammal Center in the Marin Headlands responded to care for it, Bosques said.
Ozzie is tagged and police were able to pick it up in a towel and place it in a cage in a quiet area.
No one is being allowed to visit Ozzie so it doesn't get scared, Bosques said.
