Skype Employees Volunteer at Milpitas' Habitat for Humanity

The employees built and painted a playhouse on Thursday.

On Thursday, 20 Skype employees gathered at Habitat for Humanity in Milpitas as part of Microsoft’s employee Giving Campaign.

Now in its 30th year, the campaign surpassed this years goal with 83 percent employee participation, said press spokeswoman Nancy Sanchez.

From 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m., the employees worked to build a brightly painted playhouse. They cut the walls, trim, window wells, and door openings, built the roof, put on the shingles, and painted the house when these parts were done, said Sanchez.

The playhouse built is will be donated to Acterra: Action for a Healthy Planet. Acterra will be having an event where they are auctioning it in order to raise funds for their programs and initiatives.

"We are proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity, inspire our employees to actively give back, and continue Habitat for Humanity’s work to provide affordable housing throughout the Silicon Valley,” said volunteer coordinator Daniel Costello.
