Milpitas Hires Economic Development Director

Alex Andrade comes from the Mountain View where he served as manager for the city's Economic Development Department.

MILPITAS, CA -- Alex Andrade is moving over to the other end of the Silicon Valley. The veteran city official was hired by Milpitas City Manager Julie Edmonds-Mares as the new Economic Development Director. He'll start Dec. 10.

His most recent role has been five years with the city of Mountain View as its economic development manager. In city government, a director is a promotion from a manager.

Andrade previously worked for three of the largest redevelopment agencies in California when they existed -- San Jose, Los Angeles and San Francisco. He has also been on board city government in Menlo Park and Poway, along with a stint as a program officer at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
