Milpitas Police Arrest Burglar Who Tried To Flee on Foot

On Thursday, Milpitas Police caught and arrested a man who tried to flee from them after a residential burglary, they reported Monday.

At 8 p.m., a victim heard his garage door open. He went to check on the sound, and called Milpitas Police to report a suspicious subject, later identified as being Randall Cablay, running away from his residence on the 1200 block of Glacier Drive.

The victim and family members chased after Cablay, a 26-year-old Newark resident, detaining him and calling Milpitas Police, according to Sergeant Huy Tran.

A police officer arrived at the scene in less than two minutes, and Cablay tried to flee.

After a short foot pursuit, the officer caught Cablay and took him into custody. Cablay was in possession of stolen property from the victim’s vehicle.

After further investigation, it was determined that Cablay had burglarized the victim’s vehicle and attempted to enter the victim’s residence by using the garage door opener to open the garage door.

Cablay was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for various charges that included auto burglary, attempted residential burglary, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
