New Soccer Field Unveiled In San Jose
The new field is located at Arena Green Park on W. Santa Clara Street.

SAN JOSE, CA -- A new soccer court will be unveiled Thursday in San Jose to give children and families more access to the game, city officials said. The soccer court, also known as a soccer mini-pitch, will be unveiled at 4 p.m. at Arena Green Park at 345 W. Santa Clara St.
One official from San Jose, one from the San Jose Earthquakes soccer team and one from the U.S. Soccer Foundation will offer their thoughts before an inaugural youth scrimmage takes place on the pitch. The new pitch is part of an effort by the U.S. Soccer Foundation to make sure all children can enjoy the benefits of soccer. San Jose Earthquakes players will attend the event and serve as celebrity coaches for the youth scrimmage.
Boys and girls from the city's Roosevelt Community Center and the San Jose Earthquakes youth academy will take part in placing the first kick at the pitch, which used to be the site of a tennis court.
