Police Find Collection of Stolen Bikes in Home of Suspected Thief in Milpitas

The discovery was made after detectives followed the lead of a bike stolen in Pleasanton.

Pleasanton police detectives following the lead of one stolen bicycle have stumbled upon dozens of other stolen bikes in a Milpitas home.

The owner of a stolen bike in Pleasanton found it for sale in Milpitas on Craigslist, and contacted detectives, reported the San Jose Mercury News Thursday.

After confirming that the bike – a rare 1952 Schwinn – was stolen from the Milpitas home, detective returned with a search warrant and found a trove of additional stolen bicycles.

Police are still searching for the suspected thief, who was not home at the time of the investigation.
