San Jose Grass Fires Burns Few Acres; Structures Spared

The grass fire broke out Saturday off LaRagione Avenue near Albanese Circle near a residential neighborhood in east San Jose.

SAN JOSE, CA — A grass fire off LaRagione Avenue near Albanese Circle two miles southeast of downtown San Jose Saturday afternoon has been contained at 2 1/2 acres, with the only damage being to some fences in the area, the San Jose Fire Department said.

The fire, in a residential neighborhood including mobile homes two blocks off Tully Road, was first reported just before 4 p.m. Saturday, and by 6 p.m. had been contained. No one was injured, and no structures were threatened, firefighters said.

Roads in the area were closed at the time.
