Second Grade Students Leads Shoe Collection

Shoes 4 Souls

St. John’s students are involved in many community service projects throughout the year in their commitment to serve to others. For this school year, the second graders collected new or slightly used shoes during Catholic Schools Week. This year's theme was Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed. The students began their project by voting on a title (Shoes for Souls) and making their posters. They worked hard by taking turns holding their posters and waving to everyone during morning assembly, morning drop-off and at dismissal. Their enthusiasm and hard work paid off and Mrs. Garcia’s class collected over 160 pairs of shoes. Alumni family, The Barrozo’s (Ryan-Class of 2012 & Rosabelle-Class of 2016) coordinate the donations and will send the shoes collected to Mrs. Joy Barrozo's hometown of Infanta, Pangasinan in the Philippines in support of "The Joy of Caring Foundation."
