Sheriffs Break Up Assault at Elmwood Correctional Facility
Four men assaulted another inmate, causing minor injuries, Monday at 9:20 p.m.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office broke up an assault last night at the Elmwood Correctional Facility in Milpitas.
On Monday night at 9:20 p.m., four suspected inmates got in a physical fight with another inmate, sticking his upper and lower body with their hands, according to Santa Clara County Sgt. Jose Cardoza.
As a result, the 19-year-old inmate had scratches and redness on his back, but did not require medical treatment, said Cardoza.

The suspects, four men ages 18 to 20, were uncooperative, and did not want to provide any information about their motive, said Cardoza.
“Assaults do happen at Elmwood and the Main Jail,” said Sgt. Cardoza, pointing out that there can be periods with no assaults and periods with many of them.

The four men currently under questioning are Ivan Mendoza, 18, Pedro Hernandez, 20, Juan Rodriguez, 21, and Vinicius Olivera, 20.
