Missing Milpitas Man Found In San Jose
Arturo Basa, 77, was missing more than 24 hours after not returning home after a walk Wednesday afternoon, police said.

MILPITAS, CA — An elderly Milpitas man, who suffers the onset of dementia, speaks limited English and went missing Wednesday afternoon after going out for a walk, was located Thursday afternoon in San Jose and reunited with his family, officials said.
Arturo Basa, 77, was found in San Jose shortly before 5 p.m. — more than 24 hours after he went missing — and was driven home by Milpitas Police Department detectives.
Milpitas police and the California Highway Patrol had issued a joint Silver Alert for the at-risk senior, who primarily speaks Tagalog and has conditions requiring medication, after he did not return from a walk in the Milpitas and Fremont areas.

When reported missing, Basa was last seen Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. when leaving his Milpitas home on Wilson Way in the Pioneer Mobile Home Park, police said. The senior was headed north on North Milpitas Boulevard near the Fremont line and was not carrying identification or a cellphone.
Milpitas police did not release details on Basa's condition or specifics on how he was located. The department thanked the public "for their assistance in keeping an eye out for Mr. Basa," and added, "We would also like to thank the San Jose Police Department, Fremont Police Department, and the Santa Clara County Sheriff Search and Rescue for their assistance during this investigation."
