Strip Mall Fire Knocked Out Power To Coffeehouse

San Jose fire crews responded to the blaze that ignited a patio structure at a little after midnight on Alum Rock Boulevard.

SAN JOSE, CA -- Fire crews extinguished a two-alarm fire at a strip mall in east San Jose early Wednesday morning, according to fire officials.

The blaze was first reported at 12:39 a.m. at the business located at 1915 Alum Rock Blvd., San Jose Fire Capt. Brad Cloutier said. The fire was kept to a patio structure, but a second alarm was also called early in the firefight because firefighters didn't know if the blaze had extended into the attic, Cloutier said.

The fire was extinguished at 2:06 a.m.

No one was injured in the blaze, but a coffee shop will be without power until further notice and may have suffered some smoke, fire and water damage, according to Cloutier.
