Woman Accused Of Stealing Bait Porch Package In Milpitas: Police

A 37-year-old woman is accused of taking a package left as bait on a Milpitas doorstep by police.

MILPITAS, CA — A 37-year-old woman was arrested and accused of stealing a bait package left on a doorstep by Milpitas police last week, the Milpitas Police Department said Tuesday.

The package was placed on a doorstep on the 1500 block of McCandless Drive around 1:48 p.m. Wednesday. Within eight minutes, Flor Estela Hernandez allegedly drove up, parked her car and took the bait package, police said.

Hernandez, 37, of San Jose, was stopped nearby and booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of grand theft and being an unlicensed driver, police said.

Milpitas police plan to keep conducting similar bait operations, and encouraged the public to have packages delivered to a workplace or schedule delivery for when someone is inside the home.

Flor Estela Hernandez was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of grand theft and being an unlicensed driver, police said.
