ANAHEIM, CA —It was a beautiful day at Angels Stadium in Los Angeles Sunday, until bees got in the way. During the fifth inning of the Angels versus Texas Rangers game, a large swarm of bees briefly took over the bullpens. The game was momentarily in "bee delay" after the Rangers reliever Kyle Bird noticed the insects while warming up.
He seemed "relatively unfazed, swatting them away," MLB Cut4 reported. Once he noticed he was shooing away bees instead of no-see-ums, the pitcher hightailed it across the field and into the Rangers dugout away from the offending insects.
Officials called a brief delay until the swarm decided to go elsewhere. The Angels defeated the Rangers at Angel Stadium of Anaheim Sunday, 7-2, with Mike Trout hitting yet another home run to make it five in the series vs. the Texas Rangers.
