Man With No Lower Teeth Tried to Lure Boy Into Truck, Officials Say

Mission Viejo boy was walking home from school at the time, sheriff's officials say.

Orange County sheriff's deputies were looking for a man who tried to lure a 9-year-old boy into his pickup truck Tuesday afternoon.

The boy was walking home from school in the 24000 block of Via Alcala about 4:20 p.m. when a man in a truck tried to lure him into the vehicle, Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said.

"He told him four times to, 'Get in my truck,' '' Amormino said.

The boy ignored him and kept walking home, Amormino said.

When a neighbor, who heard the man, and the boy's mother confronted the man he drove away in his truck, Amormino said.

The suspect is a Latino man about 40 to 50 years old who is bald and has no lower teeth, Amormino said. He was driving an older model, rust-colored Ford pickup truck "with a bunch of junk in the bed'' and has an  "8'' and  "K'' in the license plate number, Amormino said.
