MISSION VIEJO, CA —Drivers, watch the road! and be careful not to be distracted in Orange County. At approximately noon on Friday, the California Highway Patrol discovered a series of bizarre traffic hazards on the 5 Freeway, just north of Oso Parkway.

"There was a hood blocking the HOV lane, along with a refrigerator," they reported.
Though no vehicle was initially located, CHP officers followed the trail to find a large chest of drawers and "debris" scattered in the #1 and #2 lanes.

"An abandoned camper shell" lay on the right shoulder.

CHP officers then backtracked to the Oso Parkway exit and discovered an abandoned white Toyota Tacoma with left side damage on El Paseo, a dead end street. CHP determined the driver struck a center divider, in what was a solo vehicle crash.

"The driver is outstanding, and officers are checking the area to locate him," Officer Raphael Reynoso told Patch.
