Construction Update: Oso Parkway Bridge Project

This weekend's update for the Oso Parkway Bridge Project

With construction now underway, crews will begin work along the north side to construct the new Oso Parkway Bridge as we're preparing to transition motorists to the south side of the roadway.

Here's a summary of construction activities over the coming week:

7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 25 - Paving Work

  • Crews will be paving a temporary detour road along the south side of Oso Parkway between Los Patrones on- and off-ramps. Work is scheduled on the weekend to avoid impacts to school and work commuters.

9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28 to 5 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 29 - Nighttime Work

  • Final preparation for the new temporary lanes on Oso Parkway. One lane in each direction will be open to motorists during this nighttime work. Work is scheduled at night to avoid impacts to school and work commuters.

Beginning after 5 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 29 - Temporary Lanes, Traffic Switch

  • Motorists will be transitioned to the new temporary lanes (two lanes in each direction) along the south side of Oso Parkway within the project area.
  • Traffic control measures will be in place. For the safety of the crews and traveling public, please observe all signs, barriers and personnel within the project area.
  • Traffic lanes will narrow slightly to 11 feet wide to keep motorists moving while accommodating construction.
  • U-turns at the intersection of Oso Parkway and northbound SR-241 will be prohibited.

With the first phase of construction activities nearing completion, here's what you can expect over the next several months as crews work on the next phase of the project:

  • Work is scheduled on weekdays, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with limited nighttime and weekend work.
  • Temporary lanes will be in place along the south side of Oso Parkway in the project area; two lanes in each direction on Oso Parkway will remain open at all times.
  • Bike lanes will be impacted; motorists and bicyclists will share the road.
  • Be aware of construction signs and personnel while traveling through the project area; please drive with caution.
