Cowboys n' Aliens Steampunk Show Friday
The 43rd Annual Silverado Country Fair strays a bit from its country roots with the Steampunk Music Fest Friday night.

The Silverado Country Fair is a few miles north of South County on Santiago Canyon Road. But it's in another stratosphere Friday night with the Steampunk Music Fest from 5 to 10, which promises a blend of Cowboys and Aliens.
The cowboy part comes from the music of the Road Kill Kings. DJ Rachel Starr will supply the alien sounds. Admission is $5.
Amid all this genre-clashing, a costume contest will be held at 7:30 p.m. for the best steampunk attire. What is steampunk? It's a reimagined past, circa the 1800s, in which steam power took over technology rather than electronics.
It all takes place at the Silverado Fairgrounds and Community Center, 27641 Silverado Canyon Road.
There are some rules that come with this music fest. While in the park, expect:
- No hooch (alcohol)
- No pooch (pets)
- No ATM (self-explanatory)
On Saturday morning, the Unparade begins. Anyone can take part. In the past, people have brought their kids, their dogs, and their trucks with rubber gloves fitted over windshield wipers. It's an ultra-casual hodge-podge led by the Silverado Outlaws.
There's also a fair all weekend from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Fair activities include music, gun slingin’, local art & craft merchants, 1800’s hands-on activities, eating contests, a petting zoo and children's games. It's a $5 admission for adults, $3 for kids 4-12 and kids 3 and under are free.
