Daughters of the American Revolution to Hold Membership Tea
New and Prospective Members Invited to Free Event

The Mission Viejo Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will host their annual tea for new and prospective members on Sunday, Jan. 20, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The free event will be held at the Norman P. Murray Center at 24932 Veterans Way in Mission Viejo and is open to anyone interested in joining the DAR.
According to Penny Sander, regent for the chapter, the event will include a short program covering the mission and goals of the DAR and how prospective members can join. The group will also discuss its fundraisers and activities for 2019. In addition to participating in local community programs for Memorial Day, Veterans Day, the Mission Viejo Fourth of July Street Faire and the Swallows Day Parade in San Juan Capistrano, the chapter supports active deployed military personnel, the Ronald McDonald House and local food banks. The organization also provides scholarships and recognition for local high school students through its annual Good Citizens awards program.
“Our chapter offers members the opportunity to explore their greatest area of interest – be it patriotism, history or service to the community,” Sander said. “We encourage anyone who’d like to learn more about the DAR to attend the event. We’d also like to invite any DAR member who has recently moved to South Orange County and their family members to join us for the day.”
