Disneyland Resort Awaits Gov. Newsom's Go-Ahead Before Reopening
As fans of Disney anxiously await any news of returning to the Happiest Place on Earth, all eyes turn to Sacramento for next-step plans.

ANAHEIM, CA —Guests, fans, employees, and officials hope to reopen theme parks as soon as California gives them guidelines to follow.
An East Cost roundtable of some of the biggest names in the theme park industry gathered virtually on Wednesday to discuss hopes for reopening, all led by Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida on The Florida Channel.
Disney, Universal and Sea World took the meeting to seek out more clear plans from Gov. Gavin Newsom's office when it comes to reopening.

It has been five months since the southern California theme parks shuttered amid the coronavirus pandemic. In July, Disneyland Resort scrapped plans for the 65th anniversary celebration. Instead, the park turned attention to Downtown Disney where guests are once again invited. There, after going through health checks and entry protocols, guests can once again eat and shop.
Things look different now, with mandatory social distancing protocols in place. Masks are required of all who enter for the foreseeable future.

Across the country, guests of Disneyworld have told Patch that the resort is the "cleanest it has ever been," and that they feel "safe reentering the gates, and don't even mind wearing a mask."
Though Disney World's chief operating officer Jim MacPhee declared at the roundtable discussion that the Disneyland Resort "has been ready to roll since July,"as the OC Register Reports, a Disneyland Resort spokesperson tells Patch Disneyland remains closed for now.
"Once we have a clearer understanding of when theme park reopening guidelines will be released from the State of California, we will be able to work with the State and Orange County Health Care Agency towards a reopening date," the spokesperson said.
