ANAHEIM, CA — Starting June 15, Disneyland is dropping mask requirements for vaccinated guests and eradicating social distancing for guests, a letter from Chief Medical Officer Pamela Hymel says. The park will start incrementally allowing more guests to attend the resort at a future time, according to a report from the Happiest Place on Earth.

Disneyland resort originally closed March 13, 2020 amid the growing coronavirus pandemic. The resort finally reopened to guests in March and has battled to help their visitors wear masks while at the park, stay six feet apart, embrace the new online registration platform, the removal of annual passes, and the lack of fast passes. Instead, mobile ordering for food has become the order of the day, and the much-awaited Avengers Campus made its debut to fans months ahead of schedule.

The employee letter, obtained by the OC Register, says that changes will start Tuesday, June 15.

"As we have realized the benefits of reservations in helping to manage guest visitation and provide an even better experience, our reservation system will continue," Hymel said in the letter, "and we will gradually increase attendance as our operations allow."

Unvaccinated visitors will need to keep those masks on unless sitting down and eating, according to Hymel. But how will they know who is who?

Guests of the resort will be able to "self attest" their vaccination without showing proof, according to the report. However, all guests will need to "acknowledge" the state of California's vaccination recommendation when making their reservation.

While temperature checks for visitors and employees will drop, Tuesday, the online-only reservation system will remain in place for the foreseeable future. Park employees will be asked to keep wearing masks, regardless of vaccination status, and maintain their 6 feet of social distance.

Tuesday, Paradise Pier hotel will reopen, while the Disneyland Resort Hotel will reopen on July 2, however, capacity at all Disneyland Resort hotels will remain reduced for the foreseeable future.
