High School Senior, Sam Tullis, Organizes TILE Talks at LHHS

TILE which stands for Talks on Innovation, Leadership and Entrepreneurship hosts free accessible talks for students and our community.

Samuel Tullis, a senior at Laguna Hills High School, is a student leader we can expect great things from in the years to come. Not only is he a top performing student, the Commissioner of Education for the Associated Student Body (ASB) at Laguna Hills High School and the sole Student Member for the Saddleback Valley Unified School District Board of Education, but Sam also is the founder of the Laguna Hills Chapter of TILE which stands for Talks on Innovation, Leadership and Entrepreneurship. TILE hosts free accessible talks that bring students and communities together to facilitate access to the world's brightest minds.

The Laguna Hills TILE Chapter already has hosted successful community talks with Tayyiba Haneef-Park, a three-time Olympic athlete, Stephen Van Doren, son of co-founder Paul Van Doren and Vice President of VANS, and Julie M. Davis, Global Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary at Taco Bell.

The Laguna Hills Chapter Tile talks are run with a panel asking questions of the speaker in a very casual "fireside chat" style. The questions vary from talk to talk but have included such topics such as how to handle pressure, how failure relates to innovation, and what to do when you are unsure of how to achieve your goals.

Sam is often joined on panel discussions by one of his fellow TILE members, Jordan Feng or Miles Kim. Members of the audience are given an opportunity to ask questions at the end of each panel discussion. The participation from the audience is usually very lively and fun, and it is a great way for students and other members of the community to be able to learn from different innovators, leaders and entrepreneurs in an open and informal environment.

For the Laguna Hills TILE Chapter's next talk, Sam has lined up Mr. Gary Maggetti, General Manager of Disney California Adventure Park. Mr. Maggetti has worked for the Disneyland Resort for 23 years (including in Japan), and also sits on the Board of Directors for the California Restaurant Association. Please don't miss this very exciting talk on Thursday, January 30th, 2020, at 6:30 p.m., in the Library at Laguna Hills High School, located at 25401 Paseo de Valencia, Laguna Hills, CA 92653. This event is FREE and open to all members of the community.
