I-5 Freeway Traffic Standstill Thanks To Broken Down VW Bus
A broken down Volkswagen van stalled I-5 Freeway commuter traffic Monday morning from San Juan Capistrano, Ladera Ranch & Mission Viejo.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — A broken down Volkswagen van created a little traffic chaos for northbound I-5 commuters on Monday morning. The VW was stopped in the middle lane, just after 9 a.m., causing traffic to come to a halt from San Juan Capistrano north to Mission Viejo.
The break down occurred at I-5 Freeway and Oso Parkway, according to California Highway Patrol.
"The van was stopped in the #3 lane, just after 9 a.m.," California Highway Patrol officer Rafael Reynoso said. "When our CHP officers and freeway service patrol arrived, they helped the driver get to the right shoulder."

AAA aided the driver on the I-5 shoulder, where the broken down VW van remained as of 9:45 a.m.
No one was injured, and no residual traffic accidents were reported, though traffic remained slow and go for drivers.
