Irvine Shooting Victim Remembered By Loved Ones

MISSION VIEJO, CA — Raymond Alcala, 20, was shot and killed in his Irvine home Saturday. He was remembered by family and friends this week.

"Raymond had a different type of spark in him," family member Liz Alcala wrote on the GoFundMe page established to raise funds for the unexpected funeral costs. "From an early age, Raymond was always so loving, caring, humble, and protective."

He was a much-loved son, brother, and friend taken too soon.

"Raymond was a go=getter. He was a natural-born businessman," Liz Alcala wrote. "He had a certain drive that not many people have when he joined wrestling in high school. He was put on the varsity team as a Freshman and Sophomore."

According to friends, he took care of those around him, and "was the most loyal person, and you would be the luckiest person to have him around you."

Loved ones remember Raymond Alcala as being humble.

"He deserves the same love he gave to every one of us," his mother wrote.

His death remains under investigation by the Irvine Police Department.
