Mission Viejo Cops Arrest 3 For DUI Overnight: Report

MISSION VIEJO, CA— Mission Viejo Police Services deputies made three separate DUI arrests overnight, they reported Tuesday. One driver forgot to turn on headlights, another was involved in a collision, while a third was driving erratically, according to reports. No one was injured, and all were arrested without incident according to reports.

"One of the suspects had a prior DUI," police say.

At 7:15 p.m., deputies stopped a car in the area of Alicia Parkway and Charlinda for driving in the dark without headlights.

"They administered Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST) and the driver had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .20," police reported. "The driver was arrested and taken to jail."

At 9 p.m., deputies were searching for a reported possible drunk driver on Alicia Parkway from the freeway.

"Moments later, we were dispatched to Alicia Parkway and Trabuco for a traffic collision (pictured) involving the described vehicle," they reported. "The driver was arrested for DUI and luckily there were no serious injuries."

At 2:50 a.m., deputies observed a vehicle making an unsafe lane change near Marguerite and Alicia Parkway.

"The driver was pulled over and the standardized sobriety tests were administered," they said. "The driver was on DUI probation, had a prior conviction, and was taken to jail."

The Mission Viejo police services deputies advise that drivers should all drive defensively. Some of those tips include:

  • Don't rush into an intersection on a "fresh green light.
  • Give yourself space from other vehicles around you.
  • Watch out for vehicles that are driving too slow, without lights on, or drifting into other lanes.
  • If you suspect someone is driving impaired, please call 9-1-1.
