Mission Viejo Golfer Claims His 7th PGA Player Of The Year Award

Michael Block is once again the Southern California PGA Player of the Year.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — Professional golfer Michael Block claimed his seventh PGA Player of the Year title in eight years, according to the PGA Southern California Section.

Block, a Mission Viejo resident, also won the award in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2019. In 2020, he earned his Player of the Year at his home course, Trabuco Hills Golf Club in Mission Viejo.

Block attended college at the University of Missouri in St. Louis and turned pro in 1998.

In 2020, amid the coronavirus pandemic, Block participated in 11 events and earned 640.89 points.

In those events, he earned four 1st place awards, three 2nd place awards, placed in the top 10 nine times, and the top 25 a total of ten times.

He most recently placed first in the Pinehurst Championship at Dove Canyon Golf Club on Dec. 7, the PGA reports.
