First up is the Family Fun Night on Saturday, July 15 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Montanoso Recreation and Fitness Center.

Aloha! Sport your favorite Hawaiian attire and spend the evening dancing to luau-style music around the pool. Families can enjoy swimming, luau games and an inflatable obstacle course. The event is free for recreation center members – and $8 for non-members 14 and older; $4 for kids 13 and younger. See details in this flier.

Next up is the chance to enjoy the great Mission Viejo outdoors overnight during the City’s Camp Out at Beebe Park on Saturday, August 5.

Campers are invited to unplug and enjoy a night filled with fun family activities including a scavenger hunt, flashlight hike, soccer, life-sized games and more. They’ll chow down on beef hot dogs, chips and fruit with lemonade for dinner and gooey s’mores around the campfire. The event begins at 4 p.m. August 5 and ends at 10 a.m. August 6 with a breakfast of donuts and wraps from Dunkin Donuts. Campers should bring a sleeping bag, flashlight, water bottle and tent (stakes are ok). No pets please. The flashlight hike is about a mile on a dirt trail with unpaved paths and hills.

Rounding out the summer fun is the Cardboard Boat Derby from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. August 12 at the Sierra Recreation Center.

This cool and inventive event will have you designing and building a cardboard boat to race in the pool. We kid you not! Each team receives two pieces of cardboard, a roll of duct tape and utility knife to build their boat. All ages are welcome to laugh out loud and join the fun.

Cost is $25 per boat (for a team of four or less). Register today at http://econnect.cityofmissionviejo.org and reference course #5295.
