Mission Viejo Hosts Watershed Clean-Up Day

Mission Viejo is is offering the public a chance to give back and learn about composting on September 17.

As part of its ongoing efforts to improve the environment, the City of Mission Viejo on Saturday, September 17 is offering the public a chance to give back and learn about composting.

The City will host its annual Inner-Coastal Watershed Clean-Up Day from 8 a.m. to noon, with registration at the Oso Creek Trail near the Potocki Center’s lower parking lot at 27301 La Paz Road. Held annually in conjunction with Coastal Clean-Up Day, this event is one of California’s biggest volunteer efforts.

Along with caring for the environment, residents can learn about a natural way to turn their yard and food waste into organic fertilizer during a free compost workshop. The City and Waste Management will host the workshop at 10 a.m. at the Oso Creek Trail near the Potocki Center’s lower parking lot.

The workshop will also focus on vermi-composting (worm composting). Compost and vermi-composting containers will be available for purchase or order. Discount vouchers will be provided to folks who register and attend the workshop.
