Mission Viejo Nurse Suspected In Elder Abuse, Sexual Assault Of 3

A former Providence Mission Viejo Hospital employee was arrested on suspicion of a sexual assault of 3 women at the hospital emergency room.

MISSION VIEJO, CA — A registered nurse was arrested on suspicion of committing multiple counts of elder abuse and sexual assault while at work at the Providence Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo.

Paul Aiden Miller, 56 and a resident of San Clemente, was arrested Wednesday morning. He is expected to be charged with elder abuse and sexual battery of at least three women, the Orange County Sheriff's Department reported.

He is being held on $100,000 bail as investigators seek additional leads in the crimes.

According to the report, in March, a 22-year-old woman reported that Miller sexually assaulted her at the hospital's emergency room. A 68-year-old woman reported a similar instance at the same location in April, an OCSD spokesperson said. A 56-year-old woman reported that she also was assaulted by Miller in June.

It is unclear if the hospital still employed Miller at the time of his arrest.

Providence Mission Hospital employed Miller from January through April of 2021. Before that, he was employed at El Centro Regional Medical Center for one year, from January 2016 to 2017. He worked at Sharp Hospital in Chula Vista from December 2014 through May 2015.

Providence Mission Hospital could not be reached for comment as of this report.
