What mentor taught about success: My mother always taught me to never give up. She allowed my activities and sports to control her schedule. She was present at every game, practice, and meeting. Growing up I was a competitive figure skater and she drove me to the ice rink at 4 am every morning. She would stand by the door and coach me on different jumps as I struggled to land a new trick. She managed to keep up with my schedule of ice skating, volleyball and school while simultaneously supporting my sister in her very active basketball career and my brother as he discovered what sports he loved. She taught me to stay diligent and work on something until I was successful. I failed many times, but eventually I succeeded with her help.

What mentor taught about dealing with failure: My mother taught me to gladly accept failure because it meant I was one step closer to success.
Best advice from mentor: She gave me more advice then I can remember, but I think the best advice from her was watching how she lived her life. She has shown me through example to try my hardest at everything.
