Men’s quad division player David Wagner of Chula Vista, Calif. won for the second straight day Wednesday in Day two of the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Masters at Mission Viejo’s Marguerite Tennis Pavilion.
In both matches, Wagner won a close first set before winning the second set 6-0. On Wednesday, he got past rival Lucas Sithole of South Africa, a player who has handed Wagner his only four losses the entire year.

“You never know what you’re going to get in tennis, that’s the beauty of it,” Wagner said. “Today Lucas was strong in the first set and I just happened to get some points to go my way in the second set.
“Lucas is extremely strong and fast and makes you run down everything. You almost have to play high-risk against him. We may face each other again. In New York at the US Open we both ended up in the same round-robin and ended up meeting later in the tournament.”
