Warm Weather Ahead For Mission Viejo

Santa Ana winds are on their way back to the Southland, bringing along with it some much-needed sunshine. How will you enjoy the sun today?

MISSION VIEJO, CA — No wind advisories were issued for Orange County, though strong Santa Ana winds were expected to the north in the San Gabriel Mountains.

In Orange County, sunny skies would rule the day into Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

The warmest high temperature in Orange County Tuesday was 80 degrees in Lake Forest.

Elsewhere in Orange County, high temperatures were forecast at: 53 on Santiago Peak; 67 on Ortega Highway at 2,600 feet, in Newport Beach; and Laguna Beach; 68 in San Clemente; 70 in Dana Point; 72 at Fremont Canyon, Laguna Niguel and Seal Beach; 75 in San Juan Capistrano and Trabuco Canyon; 76 in Irvine, Los Alamitos and Mission Viejo; and 77 in Rancho Santa Margarita, Yorba Linda; Los Alamitos, Fullerton; Anaheim; and 78 in Rancho Santa Margarita.

Much needed sunny days are in the forecast through Thursday, when a cooling trend will begin, followed by a least four days of partly cloudy skies, according to a 7-day NWS forecast.

To our north, Tuesday began with strong and dry Santa Ana winds.

Much of Los Angeles County braced for strong gusting winds, especially in mountain passes, the National Weather Service said. The San Gabriel Mountains were expected to see 55 miles per hour winds, and gusts of between 35 and 40 mph would whip through valley areas.

A wind advisory signifying an expectation of gusts of at least 35 mph will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the San Gabriel and Santa Monica Mountains and the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys.

"Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and make driving difficult, especially for drivers of high-profile vehicles," warned an NWS statement.

"Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high-profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects, such as lawn furniture."
