Do you think your business is essential to care for your loved ones? Your workers? Your customers? Your friends? Your community? I do.

For the last few months business owners did what they were told. They stayed home. They closed their businesses. They pulled their kids out of school. They wore masks and gloves. They socially distanced. They did their duty.

Why? We were told by our governor that we had to flatten the curve. We were told this was temporary. We were told if we didn’t do this, we would overrun our hospitals and millions would die.

Millions didn’t die. Instead, the cure proved worse than the disease. We had the greatest economy in the world in January. Now, more than 36 million Americans are unemployed. Hospitals are laying off staff. Our health sector is on the verge of collapse because they aren’t seeing regular patients. Thousands of restaurants have closed and may never reopen. And small businesses are closing, laying off workers, families and our American way of life are being destroyed.
But it doesn’t have to be this way.

We can stop this madness. We can reopen America for good. Beginning with California. How? By recognizing EVERY business is essential. When one goes down, we all down.

It is time we said enough is enough. It is time we reclaimed our rights.
It is time we said we will not be ruled by fear.
It is time we said, "we went back to work."

It is not that we think money is more important than health. It is because we know a sick economy will only make Americans sicker. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want a government handout. I want to go back to work. I want to take control of my own life.

Does that mean I don’t care about the virus? Of course not. My heart goes out to everyone who is hurting or lost a loved one. This is a terrible thing.

But there are worse things than getting sick. Don’t let the media twist the truth. This disease is not a death sentence. On the other hand, an economic depression will kill many more people than this virus ever will.

To change this, we MUST make our economy great again. To keep our country the greatest force for good the world has ever known, we must remember EVERY business is essential. This is the reason we must open up. Not just temporarily. We must open for GOOD.

I am Greg Raths. I am running for the 45th Congressional District of California because we need someone to stand up for small businesses. If you are with me, please tell me about your story.

Together, we are stronger. Together we can keep our country open for good.
