2 At Large After Home Burglary, Police Chase In Sierra Madre

SIERRA MADRE, CA — Two suspects are in custody and two others remain outstanding from a burglary at a home in La Verne caught on security cameras by the residence's homeowner, a police sergeant said Sunday.

The homeowner notified police a little after 5:55 p.m. Saturday that he could see, via his RING security cameras, two males removing property inside his home in the 6900 block of Wheeler Avenue, said Sierra Madre police Sgt. Michael Martinez.

"The resident was not home at the time and stated that no one should be at his residence," Martinez said. "Officers quickly responded and upon arrival observed three males exiting the residence with property."

Two of the suspects were detained at gunpoint, he said, and another fled on foot. An additional suspect driving a vehicle fled in a white four-door sedan southbound on Wheeler Avenue at speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour.

"Officers initiated a pursuit on the vehicle suspect, which was subsequently terminated due to the high speed and reckless driving of the suspect," he said.

A perimeter was set up, and with the assistance of a West Covina Police Department K-9 unit as well as a Sheriff's Department air unit, turned up no other suspects.

The two suspects taken into custody were arrested on suspicion of residential burglary. One was identified as Jaylen Lacy, 19, of Los Angeles. Lacy was being held at the Pomona City Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. The second suspect was identified as a 17-year-old boy from Los Angeles and booked at the Central Juvenile Hall in Los Angeles, Martinez said.

"All property that was taken was recovered and returned to the resident," he said.
