Brio Bikes Moves from Old Town Location

Brio Bikes is no longer at its Old Town retail location, but owner Keith Stephens wants the community to know he is still in business.

Stephens opened the East Ivy Avenue shop last May, but also owns a bicycle parts wholesale business on East Pomona Avenue called American Cycle Systems. He said by email that he needed to be at American Cycle during the day.

"Running a retail shop with set hours, in addition to ACS, was overwhelming," he said. "I have time to talk about electric bikes and show my inventory, but I need a heads up before people come over."

Stephens said because most customers of the electric bikes do a good amount of research ahead of time, showing them his inventory by appointment is a more manageable. 

"My new 'by appointment' system is working, as I’ve already sold some bikes this month and the phone is ringing," he said.

Stephens said he also is looking forward to what the development of the Gold Line could mean for business.

"I am also looking forward to the opening of the Monrovia Gold Line station, and am looking at the best way to market to those commuters," he said. "People who are already out of their car can understand the benefits of an electric bike to complete their commute."
