MONROVIA, CA — There are three candidates vying for the Mayor position and three candidates vying for two City Council positions in Monrovia for the election on March 3.

Patch asked them to describe their qualifications and visions for Monrovia.

No.

Served on the Monrovia City Council for 25 years.

The single most pressing issue facing our (state, district, community, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

Completion of the Infrastructure Renewal, we are in the the process of completing the single largest public works project in the history of Monrovia.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

My experience and proven track record versus one who talks a good game but has no proven record.

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform

Fiscal security is on the top of the list. Making sure that we engage the public as we move forward. Public safety is very important, housing and homeless issues.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

For five years, I worked with a council that has seen the smoothest success in a long time in Monrovia — we have the ability to build a team to get things done without regard for political affiliation.

If you win this position, what accomplishment would make your term in office as a success?

Completion of Monrovia Renewal, crafting a plan to address our new sales tax budgeting, keeping Monrovia moving forward in a positive manner.

Why should voters trust you?

25-year record of honest representation. Available locally almost seven days a week, and I always have time for anyone who asks.

What are your views on fiscal policy, government spending and the use of taxpayer dollars in the office you are seeking?

We are in a position of trust and we have a fiduciary duty to protect your money, the government needs to make sure we budget for our future and not spend just because we have it.

Is there any reason you would not serve your full term of office, other than those of health or family?

None.

The best advice ever shared with me was ...

Talk to the people you work for, listen, God gave us two ears and one mouth, we should listen more than we talk.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I am dedicated to the future of Monrovia and all who live here.
