Donations Sought For Foothill Unity Center's Back-To-School Drive

The Monrovia-based group hopes to distribute 2,000 backpacks full of school supplies to low-income students across the San Gabriel Valley.

MONROVIA, CA — Foothill Unity Center is seeking donations for its back-to-school distribution later in the summer.

The organization hopes to provide 2,000 students from low income families throughout the San Gabriel Valley with backpacks full of school supplies for the upcoming academic year, it said in a statement. Donations are being accepted now through Aug. 8 and supplies will be handed out to students from Aug. 9 to 13.

Items being sought after by the organization include:

  • New backpacks that aren’t blue or red
  • Calculators, both basic and scientific
  • Colored pencils, markers and crayons that come in 24-packs
  • College and wide ruled spiral notebooks
  • Three-ring binders
  • Highlighters
  • Regular and mechanical pencils
  • Rulers
  • Scissors

Donations can be dropped off at Foothill Unity Center’s Monrovia location at 790 W. Chestnut Ave. or its Pasadena building at 191 N. Oak Ave. Anyone wishing to know more about the back to school distribution can visit tinyurl.com/fuci-bts2021 or call (626) 358-3486.
