How global events impact our lives: Tools for coping
Free workshop that will provide people the opportunity to develop strong coping skills when they feel helpless to do anything

Global events, including worldwide health concerns, violence, human rights injustices and natural disasters, have an increasingly negative impact on our daily lives. With the speed of technology and social media we are continuously bombarded with disturbing and graphic events, both local and worldwide, which may unconsciously and adversely affect our day-to-day living. As a result, many individuals experience increased anxiety, stress and physical ailments stemming from the tragic experiences and suffering of their fellow citizens around the world.
With this in mind, the Jewish Federation of the Greater San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys’ Jewish Counseling and Referral Network is coordinating a special community-wide workshop entitled How Global Events Impact Our Lives – Tools for Coping. The event, co-sponsored by Mt. Sinai Memorial Parks and Mortuaries, Pasadena Jewish Temple & Center, Temple Beth David, Temple Beth Israel of Pomona, is scheduled on Sunday, March 5, beginning at 2:30pm and will be held at the Community Room of Monrovia Public Library.
This workshop provides an opportunity to acknowledge the impact global events have on our daily well-being and identify negative coping mechanisms we may unconsciously choose to manage the compounded influences of global and daily life stressors. Workshop goals include developing a means to evaluate and contain global fears along with healthy strategies to balance global and local stressors associated with the uncertainties in the world.
