Meet Your New Patch Editor Covering Monrovia And The SGV
Andy Nguyen will cover several San Gabriel Valley communities, including Monrovia, for Patch. Get to know a little bit about him.

MONROVIA, CA — Hello there! I’m Andy Nguyen, and and I'm the new editor for Patch covering the San Gabriel Valley. I’m excited to be involved with Patch’s return to the area and covering communities such as Monrovia. But before we get any further, I’d like for you all to get to know me a little bit.
I grew up in Orange County, which no one seriously referred to as “The O.C.” I’m currently based in Los Angeles.
My background is in print journalism; I got my start as an intern for the Orange County Register. I eventually moved westward to Ventura County, where I covered education for the Thousand Oaks Acorn.

I then shifted to covering public safety for the Burbank Leader and the Glendale News-Press, a pair of community newspapers previously owned by the Los Angeles Times.
Prior to covering the San Gabriel Valley, I worked as a roving editor for Patch covering different communities across the United States. One week I’d cover stories in Wisconsin; the next, I’d write about events in Pennsylvania.

I also helped out on Patch’s national desk. I covered everything from the arrests of U.S. Capitol rioters to an 8-year-old dog in North Carolina who finally found his forever home after being sent back to a shelter four times.
When I’m not working, I like to go for a run around my neighborhood, drink a nice California craft beer or annoy my cat with affection.
I’m still getting to know the area, so if you see me out and about, don’t hesitate to say hello — especially if you have any great recommendations for local dumpling shops.
If you have any tips, or if there’s a quirk about your city you wish you knew more about, drop me a message at andy.nguyen@patch.com and let’s chat.
I hope to see you around town!
