Red Lobster Accused of Mislabeling Seafood as Lobster

Red Lobster, the popular chain of nationwide seafood restaurants, is the subject of an unflattering report from “Inside Edition.”

The show is accusing the restaurant of misleading its customers by labeling less expensive menu items as lobster, according to Restaurant Business Online.

Red Lobster has locations in Smyrna, Tucker and unincorporated Decatur.

Inside Edition reportedly hired investigators to visit more than two dozen seafood restaurants across the nation, who collected samples of menu items listed as lobster. The restaurant’s seafood bisque was found to be using a mixture of lobster and langostino, according to The Daily Meal.

The unflattering report comes after a big weekend jump for the restaurant. Pop singer Beyonce referenced Red Lobster in her new single, “Formation,” this past weekend, according to Fortune. The song includes the catchy little line, ““When he f*&% me good, I take his a#& to Red Lobster.”

The line, and Red Lobster’s rather clumsy response to it, was mentioned on Twitter more than 40,000 times in an hour.
