Relay for Life: How to Donate to Monrovia's Fight Against Cancer
The 24-hour event kicks off at Recreation Park on Saturday.

Relay for Life returns to Monrovia this weekend at Recreation Park where participants will walk in shifts for 24 hours to raise money to fight cancer.
The walk begins at 10 a.m. Saturday and lasts until 10 p.m. Sunday. A luminaria ceremony to honor cancer victims is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
Event chair Becky Rivanis said 22 teams have signed up thus far.
"It is looking really good," she said.
The event features a carnival theme this year and includes a variety of events designed to "keep the people busy and occupied and awake," Rivanis said.
Men wearing ballroom gowns will compete for the title of "Miss Relay," which is judged on the ugliness of the dresses, Rivanis said. A frozen t-shirt contest and watermelon eating contest are also on the bill.
