SGV Man Charged With Breaking Into Grandfather's Home, Beating Him

POMONA, CA — A 24-year-old man was charged Tuesday with breaking into his grandfather's Pomona home and severely beating the 82-year-old man.
Sammeon Christian Waller is charged with one felony count each of elder abuse and first-degree burglary with a person present.
The criminal complaint includes an allegation that Waller inflicted great bodily injury on his grandfather during the commission of the crime.

Police discovered Robert McPherson injured when they were sent about 2 p.m. June 9 to the 2900 block of Gayridge Street to check on the octogenerian, who had not been seen or heard from in several days, according to Pomona police Sgt. Brian Hagerty.
"Officers arrived on scene and found the rear window of the residence smashed in and moaning sounds coming from inside the residence," Hagerty said.

Upon entering, the officers found McPherson down and bleeding, suffering from major head trauma, according to the sergeant.
Investigators learned McPherson had an active restraining order against Waller, who was arrested last Sunday in Sacramento.
If convicted as charged, he could face up to 12 years in state prison, according to the District Attorney's Office.
