Spectrum Volunteers Team Up with Rebuilding Together in Duarte

Spectrum Housing Assist, Charter's National Philanthropic Initiative to Create Safe and Healthy Homes, Comes to San Gabriel Valley

Spectrum employees volunteered in San Gabriel Valley on October 5, to support Charter Communications, Inc.’s national philanthropic initiative, Spectrum Housing Assist. Helping others is rooted in our commitment to improve 50,000 homes in the communities we live in and serve by 2020.

Spectrum partners with Rebuilding Together to provide critical home repairs to low-income homeowners. For this event, Spectrum and Rebuilding Together San Gabriel Valley Foothills renovated a home in the Duarte neighborhood of San Gabriel Valley.

Spectrum volunteers provided critical repairs and renovations to a longtime homeowner, Doris. Doris is retired from the Santa Teresita Hospital, but she continues to do volunteer work at the hospital leading anger management counseling sessions. She is also an active member of the Duarte Senior Center who enjoys making dolls for others.

Spectrum and Rebuilding Together volunteers made improvements to Doris’s home. The renovations included new flooring, installation of a new handrail, painting, landscaping, and various improvements outside her home.

These repairs will go a long way in enriching Doris’s quality of life, giving her better entry and exit access, and a safer living environment.

“At Spectrum, our technicians serve thousands of customers in their homes every day, and through Spectrum Housing Assist, we can serve the community by helping make our neighbors’ homes even safer and healthier,” said Deborah Picciolo, Spectrum’s West Region Senior Vice President. “Our employees are happy to giveaway Spectrum Safe and Healthy Home Kits and join Rebuilding Together to make a long-lasting impact in our community.”

In addition to making the repairs and renovations to Doris’s home, Spectrum volunteers distributed more than 80 Safe and Healthy Home Kits to local community members to help make their homes a safer place to live.
