MONROVIA, CA — A stolen vehicle suspect who led police in Monrovia on a pursuit that ended in a crash, then ran from officers and was found trying to hide in the backyard pool of a home was behind bars Tuesday evening.

An officer attempted to stop the driver of a gray Toyota Tacoma in the area of California Avenue and Duarte Road about 7:30 p.m., but the driver fled and the officer went in pursuit, according to a statement from the Monrovia Police Department.

At the same time the pursuit began, police began receiving reports of a stolen vehicle that had just occurred several blocks away and the description of the stolen vehicle was an exact match to the vehicle fleeing from the officer, the statement said.
