Welcome Monrovia's New Commissioners and Board Members

Veteran leaders and fresh faces were appointed to posts with the city by the City Council this week.

The Monrovia City Council filled several vacancies on its boards and commissions this week, appointing a total of 12 people at its regular meeting.

Robert McClellan and Karen Suarez were appointed to the Planning Commission for three year terms. Sergio Jimenez was appointed and Penny Zuk was reappointed to the Historic Preservation Commission for three year terms.

Gloria Crudgington, Brian Ulm and Jenny Wong will return to the Community Services Commission for three years after being reappointed. Barbara Radford was again tapped to serve for three years on the Library Board along with new members Alrita Morgan and Mark Harvis. Brian Germany and Diane Balsamo will serve two year terms with the Monrovia Old Town Advisory Board.

Mayor Mary Ann Lutz said outgoing board members and commissioner, including former MOTAB President Brian Whelan, will be honored by the council in the coming weeks.

"We will have some formal big 'thank yous' for people who have been serving this community for many years," she said.
