The Southern California Edison sent an Email to all its customers a couple of weeks ago. Alerting them that helicopter(s) were going to be in their area checking the power lines for loose connections. The helicopter(s) are equipped with an inferred sensor to detect loose connections. Loose connections produce heat and are detected with this kind of sensor. Once detected they are flagged for further investigation. A second ground crew with a drone will then inspect those flagged locations for a closer look.
The helicopter(s) will fly very low causing quite a racket ! So residents are calling the sheriff's station to see if there is any law enforcement activity in the area.
